This time around it’s Dory’s turn to take the hot seat in the “lost at sea” runaway storyline. The Blu-ray will be out on the same day too, but we’re expecting it to be available to buy for digital download a week earlier, which has become the norm these days, although the rental should be available from the likes of iTunes, Xbox ONE and Amazon on the 28th. The UK DVD release date for the animated film has been confirmed for the 28th November 2016, arriving just in time for Christmas, where it should be a big stocking filler. The film had originally been scheduled for a release date of the 25th November 2015, but it was later announced for summer 2016 to give Pixar enough time to do the sequel justice. Expectations and aquatic anticipation had been building for a while ahead of its release, since the film was initially announced in 2014. Release date Cinema:įinding Dory arrived initially in the US on the 17th June 2016, before going on to get its UK release date on Friday the 29th July 2016. The animation giants don’t always go in for a return to previous films, despite the long-running Toy Story series, and for a long time it didn’t look like Nimo et al would be getting their comeback, but the aquatic adventure managed to swim its way back to the big screen in the end. It follows on from both Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur, which were the big 2015 releases, but its the first Pixar sequel since Monsters University, back in 2013. This time it’s the forgetful blue airhead Dory that manages to get into difficulties, making Finding Dory Pixar’s 17th animated movie collaboration with Disney (now its parent company, but then who doesn’t it own). Disney headed back under the sea in the summer of 2016, but it wasn’t a continuation of Ariel’s storyline, or a bobbing along reboot, instead it’s a return to Nemo and friends.
